We had a family day out and visited a steam train.  When my Dad said a steam train, I didn't picture this I must admit, but it was fun!

Easy cheats lasagne.  So quick and easy to make and the kids love it. 

Tinned tomatoes mixed with with tomato puree, ketchup and sundried tomato puree.  Then a layer of pre cooked lasagne sheets, more of the tomato mixture, ham, ground pepper, mozzarella, then repeat
and finish with a drizzle of olive oil. 

Put in the oven for approx 20 minutes.

I was quite impressed with how they came out as I made up most of the recipe.  There are so many different recipes I got a bit confused so just guessed.

Pasta with home made cheese sauce. This dinner didn't go down well at all. Thomas asked why I'd put custard with pasta and refused to eat it, lol.

Sometimes you wonder why you bother making home made food, especially in this heat.

P.s ignore the mess on the floor, this happens every time Lucas eats. I think it's good for him to explore food and learn to feed himself but the mess that makes isn't so good!

Summer things

Gustosissima

My friend and I went for a cheeky Italian meal and the food was Delicious.

I had Parmiggiana to start which looked like Lasagne but was aubergines with mozzarella, tomato sauce and parmesan then penne bolognase which was yummy (gustosissima).  My friend had deep fried mozzarella then Lasagne (pictured).  I was really pleased that they offered gluten free pasta so I was able to have pasta for my main as I dont eat normal pasta.  So many places offer gluten free pasta now.

So overall fab food and excellent service from Giuseppes

Experiment

A little experiment I did with Thomas about moving water via kitchen roll. 

I filled a glass half full with water and some food colouring then put a kitchen roll to another glass and watch it transfer.  Although it was more than 24 hours between photos then when I went to take another the water had evaporated because it is so hot at the moment.  But at least he got the gist, he he.

Picnic time

Making the most of the sunny weather with a picnic in the park (again!) with Aunty Nic

Smooth

I try to eat healthy most of the time but do enjoy wine and tasty food at weekends.

So to make up for this I thought I'd start making smoothies and juices.
So todays was cucumber, apple, water with a splash of lemon juice. It was actually ok and I felt better for it.

Thomas talk

Having our lowdown of the day during dinner I asked Thomas if he had a nice day. He said yes.

I said he hadn't asked about my day so he asked if I had a nice day today, I said yes but I missed you, Daddy and Lucas though. He said "well we didn't miss you"

It's lovely to feel appreciated and loved after a day at work and then rushing back to make them dinner, lol.
